El Paso County Planning Commission Votes Against Rezoning Request for Lazy Y RV Park
The El Paso County Planning Commission recently voted against a rezoning request for the Lazy Y RV Park. This decision will now be reviewed by the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners on July 25.
According to Shawna Mistretta from Peyton, three planning commissioners voted against the proposal, stating that it is not compatible with the Master Plan for El Paso County. Mistretta expressed gratitude for this acknowledgement and hopes that the county commissioners will agree with the planning commissioners’ recommendation. Mistretta also emphasized the importance of having as many representatives from the opposition group present at the upcoming meeting.
Scott Smith, project manager for the Lazy Y Rockin J Campground, thanked the volunteer members of the El Paso County Planning Commission for their time and energy during the recent rezoning hearing. Smith assured that they will address the concerns raised at the meeting as they prepare for the Board of County Commissioners in July. He also mentioned that it is common practice to engage a professional land planner due to the complexity of the regulations and processes required by the county for a rezone.
