Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested at RV Park
An Orleans man is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and a misdemeanor after a suspected shooting incident at an RV park, according to a Harlan County Court affidavit.
The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office received a call on Friday morning reporting gunshots at an RV park near Highway 136 in Orleans.
According to the affidavit, the victim witnessed 47-year-old Christopher Haunton standing at the entrance of their camper, pointing a firearm, and firing shots in their direction. Bullet holes were later discovered in both the bed and the camper, and spent casings were collected as evidence.
The incident followed a gathering at Haunton’s home in Orleans the day before, where he allegedly spoke about a government conspiracy and warned of “dark times.” The affidavit also mentions a physical altercation that occurred when someone asked if Haunton was a pedophile, resulting in Haunton punching the individual. Haunton then left the scene.
Haunton is currently held on a $500,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 27.
